Terms of Service
Effective date: 30 October 2026
These terms apply to fanyi.dev and its console at fanyi.dev/app (together, “fanyi”). “We” and “us” mean fanyi.dev, the operator of fanyi. By using fanyi you agree to them. How we handle information is described in our Privacy Policy.
1. What fanyi is
fanyi publishes translations of the documentation of software projects, most of them open source, made largely by machine translation. It is an independent translation mirror: unless a page says otherwise, fanyi is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the projects whose documentation it translates.
2. The original documentation belongs to its authors
The documentation fanyi translates is the work of its original authors, who keep their copyright in it. Pages link to the original documentation, and where its licence requires attribution, we show that attribution as the licence asks.
If you hold rights in documentation published on fanyi and want it changed or removed, email support@fanyi.dev and we will respond promptly.
3. Translations may be wrong
Machine translation makes mistakes, and a translation can fall behind its original. The original documentation is the authoritative version; check it before relying on a translation for anything that matters.
4. Using fanyi
Reading fanyi is free, with or without an account. Please do not disrupt or overload the service, try to get into accounts or systems that are not yours, or use fanyi to break the law. Automated access that follows our robots.txt is welcome.
5. Accounts
You can create a reader account with your email address. If you do, give accurate information and keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with your account. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, their own terms also apply to that sign-in. We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms. You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy). A reader account does not give access to the console at fanyi.dev/app, which is for the people who run fanyi.
6. No warranty
fanyi is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including that it will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted or fit for a particular purpose. We may change or discontinue any part of it.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, the operator of fanyi is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on a translation, that results from your use of fanyi.
8. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will update this page and its effective date. Continuing to use fanyi after a change means you accept the new terms.
